What is a floral perfume?

A floral perfume places the flower at the heart of the composition, alone or in a bouquet. Rose, jasmine, tuberose, iris, orange blossom or lily of the valley: each flower asserts its own character, from the most tender to the most opulent. It is the largest and most nuanced family in perfumery, able to be powdery, green, fruity or frankly sensual. At Nicolaï, the floral avoids the familiar: the flowers are lifted with spices, musks or green notes, for trails that surprise as much as they seduce.

Within this family, the eau de toilette Fig-Tea holds a place apart: tea, fig and jasmine compose an airy floral that has become one of the Maison's most recognized signatures. Its most recent version, Fig-Tea Intense, deepens its heart and longevity without betraying any of its freshness. Around them orbit great florals: Number One and Sacrebleu, symphonies of white flowers, the noble, powdery iris of Iris Médicis, or Rose Pivoine and Rose Royale for rose lovers.

From Eau de toilette to Intense Eau de Parfum

Nicolaï floral perfumes are worn in two concentrations. The Eau de toilette offers the brightest, freshest version, ideal for everyday wear, while the Intense Eau de Parfum reveals their full depth, for a denser, longer-lasting trail. One flower, two intensities depending on the mood.

The floral is still associated with the feminine: at Nicolaï, that line does not exist. Our compositions are unisex, designed to bloom on the skin rather than for an aisle, at home among our luxury perfumes for women as much as our fragrances for men. Their delicacy also makes them lovely ideas when you wish to give a luxury fragrance as a gift.

The luxury of substance in a floral perfume

Behind the apparent softness of a Nicolaï floral perfume lies a rare mastery. Every composition is signed in-house by Patricia de Nicolaï, the first woman to found her own perfume house, in the laboratory at the Palais-Royal in Paris. The Maison works noble flowers and precious materials, often used in overdose for the sheer beauty of the accord, before assembling each bottle by hand in France and finishing it with a gold thread and a wax seal.
