What is a gourmand perfume?
A gourmand perfume draws on the register of flavors: vanilla, almond, caramel, praline, tonka bean, coffee or candied fruit. These so-called edible notes wrap the skin in a soft, comforting warmth, often perceived as sensual. The whole challenge is to avoid excess: a successful gourmand suggests sweetness without tipping into heavy sugar. A Nicolaï gourmand perfume never gives in to the easy route of sugar. Beneath the indulgence lies a genuine architecture, created entirely in-house by Patricia de Nicolaï in her laboratory at the Palais-Royal in Paris, and nourished by the heritage of seven generations of perfumers. The most precious materials are often carried in overdose, for the pleasure of the nose above all, then assembled by hand in France, in the heart of the Cosmetic Valley, and finished with a gold thread and a wax seal.
