What is a citrus fragrance?

A citrus fragrance puts citrus at the forefront: lemon, bergamot, orange, grapefruit or citron, often lifted by neroli or aromatic herbs. It is the most immediate family in perfumery, one of a bright, lively burst that reveals itself from the very first spray. Its reputation is also its limit: all too often, a citrus scent evaporates within a few hours. At Nicolaï, freshness takes the opposite path. The family brings together three expressions of freshness. The colognes first, faithful to the great tradition: Cologne Sologne unfolds a chic, noble orange blossom, while Cologne Cédrat plays on Mediterranean citrus and Haute Provence on sun-drenched lavender. The eaux fraîches next, more tenacious: Eau Mixte blends citrus and aromatic notes over a refined vetiver, Eau de Yuzu captures the vivacity of Japanese yuzu, while Eau Chic and Eau d'Été cultivate a luminous purity. Riviera Verbena completes the selection as an eau de toilette, on an aromatic seaside freshness.
